Over the years, an intimate wedding has become increasingly popular. Couples gravitate towards the adventure, smaller guest list, and all-around excitement. Intimate events used to be a sort of taboo topic and something that many frowned upon, but not anymore! As a destination wedding photographer, I’ve been thrilled to see an increase in these events for multiple reasons. Throughout the blog, I’ll dive into a few reasons to help you decide if an adventure wedding is right for you.
You Both Love Adventure? Choose an Intimate Wedding
An intimate wedding is the perfect opportunity for adventure. You and your partner can decide together what that looks like. The beauty of an elopement-esque event is simple: you can plan it however you want, whether in a national park or at the courthouse downtown. An intimate wedding is perfect if you’re both adventurous souls always planning your next big trip. While dreaming about your wedding day, think about bucket-list locations. An adventurous wedding is the perfect time to mark off those bucket lists and go somewhere you’ve never been!
You Don’t Want a Traditional Wedding
Perhaps after the excitement of the engagement has calmed down, you’ve both decided you don’t want a traditional wedding. That is entirely okay! Plan your dream intimate wedding instead of worrying about what family and friends may think about not following tradition. Or maybe you’ve never really dreamed of having a traditional big wedding with everyone you’ve ever met there. That’s okay, too. The most important part of planning your wedding is to ensure it’s what you want it to be, not what you think is expected of you.
You Want Something Stress-Free? Choose an Intimate Wedding
While planning a traditional big wedding, maybe you’ve realized it’s too much stress. Or you’ve seen friends getting married and realized it can be overwhelming. An intimate wedding can eliminate a lot of that stress. Often, intimate weddings are smaller in scale, which allows for less stress in planning and less extensive planning. There may not be a need for a venue per se, flowers, or even catering. It’s all up to you! Whether you opt for a national park wedding or an intimate gathering in someone’s backyard. Generally speaking, these events are much less stressful!
You Don’t Want to Go Into Debt
Throughout your planning, you may have begun to notice a common trend: getting married is expensive. Even living at this point has gotten expensive, let alone planning a huge wedding! If you’re trying to save some money to buy a home or don’t want to go into debt, consider a smaller-scaled wedding. As previously mentioned, there are a lot fewer elements that go into planning it, and there are generally fewer guests. Fewer guests = less money spent! An intimate wedding is a great way to get still the wedding you’ve always dreamed of on a smaller scale for less money.
You Want Something Intimate and Personal
Lastly, one of my biggest reasons for a smaller wedding? You want something intimate and personal. Couples that choose to elope focus more on their relationship and overall experience. Important days like this can often fly by; a smaller wedding is a great way to slow things down and prioritize your relationship. Schedule them if you’re planning a traditional wedding and want intimate and private moments! As a destination wedding photographer, I need your experience to be my main priority, whether at an intimate wedding or a big wedding. Your overall experience is the main priority. Remember that when making any wedding planning decisions.
Whether you choose a beautiful destination wedding or an intimate wedding, I know it’ll be lovely and incredible.
